Military Monday: Senator Samuel Crozier:

Samuel Crozier was born 1 Aug 1775 in Abbeville, South Caroline to James Crozier (1752-1789) & Mary Agnes Thompson (1753-1775). he was my 5th Great- Grandfather.

In about 1806 he moved from Abbeville to Nine Mile Creek in Illinois and started a farm, this location was about 2 miles from Evansville, IL. He was a man of high intellectual abilities, sociable, and benevolent. He rose to position and influence without much effort.
In 1824 he settle upon the site of Red Bud in Horse Prairie. Then later relocated to Randolph, IL

In 1827 he was chosen as a member of the legislator. He was Senator of Randolph County, IL.



He was a prisoner of war during the War of 1812 with another named named William Crozier. 

William married Mary Campbell in 1796 in Abbeville, SC. They had the following children all of whom were mentioned in his will.

Samuel's will dated 6 March 1836, records show he died 1834 in Evansville, Randolph, IL





There are many Crozier's and it is very easy to mix them up, so my research is still an ongoing effort and by no means completed. I live in Illinois so I will see what kind of things I can find here to help build his tree. In the meantime here is what I have found so far on my 5th  Great Grandfather.
