Peggy Lee: North Dakota Women Series

Peggy Lee was born as Norma Deloris Egstrom on 26 May 1920 in Jamestown, ND. She died of a heart attack on 21 Jan 2002 in Bel Air, Los Angeles, CA.

She began her career singing American Jazz, she wrote songs and was an actress. She even wrote poetry. She could do it all.

She sand with the Benny Goodman Band!!!!

She was the 7th child of 8 children born to Olof Egstrom an station agent for Midland Continental Railroad, and his wife Selma Amelia Anderson.

Peggy was first on the radio at KOVC station in Valley City, ND, then she had her own series.

In 1942 she got her #1 hit "Somebody Else Taking MY Place"

If your a Disney fan you may remember the hit Lady & The Tramp. Peggy sang that song for Walt.
