I couldn't imagine the loss of one child let alone two. Lefor was attacked not just once but twice by small pox.

Maxson Line

I come across a new line while I was researching my Becker line. What a great find. The Maxson name traces back to the records of First Church of Boston. There, an English blacksmith named Richard Magson is recorded in 1634 as the servant of one James Everill. Subsequent records identify Richard by the Maxson name. Richard is believed to be the progenitor of all (or nearly so) the Maxsons of European descent in the USA today. The name Maxon - without the "s" - is a spelling variation that is also widely associated with Richard. Richard signed the Portsmouth Compact in 1639, becoming a founder of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Maxson family members dedicated a new stone commemorating Richard’s presence at the new colony. HUGH MOSHER STORY

My 6th Great-Grandfather of wife of Great-Granduncle Hugh Mosher sailed into Boston Harbor 1632 and settled in Salem where he became a friend of Roger Williams, pastor of the Salem Church whose religious views he was in complete sympathy. Roger Williams was persecuted by the civil authorities for openly advocating liberty of conscience in religious matters and the separation of church and state. When Roger Williams was banished from Massachusetts in October, 1636 , Hugh Mosher went with him to Rhode Island. Rev. Roger williams was grateful the the assistance rendered by Hugh Mosher and rewarded him by securing permanent title to a fifth part of the large and fertile township of Westerly, Rhode Island in August of 1676. In 1679, Hugh was appointed by the general court Ensign of a military company and he took part in the war against King Philip, distinguishing himself by his daring and bravely. He lost two sons during the 12 years of war. He became a Baptist and in 1674 was ordain

Here's a tip for you: I became interested in Bible Boxes while reading a ancestor's will. He left his Bible and Bible Box to his first born daughter. I am always doing research on new things, so this was no different I was intrigued and started searching. I found photo's of these old Bible boxes and the history of them.
