Tombstone Tuesday

My Uncle John James Robertson was born 21 Mar 1933 in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota. He was Baptised at age 12 in the First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, SD. He married Lula Bernice McMaster on 18 Mar 1956 in Sioux Falls, SD. They had 5 children. DeLynn Venita, Kevin John, Keith James, Kary William and Duree. Keith and Kary are twins.

My Uncle John died 25 Jun 2007, very unexpectedly, from acute pancreatic bleeding. At 3:30pm he called 911 and at 12:06am he died. he was a very religious man. According to my cousin DeLynn. They arrived at the hospital at 12:13am. They were in shock to hear the news shared by the doctor and nurse who had cared for him the entire time. The nurse Mary, spoke of their dad very delightfully he shared stories for the evening with her, and they both expressed teary eyed, that he had been a uniquely friendly patient, and it was frustrating for them because they watched him take a turn for the worst without having him diagnosed until close to the end by a CAT scan result. John had told Mary the nurse he knew he wasn't going to make it but he was more than confident about where he was going and he was ready. (This was shared in a letter DeLynn wrote to family member's about my Uncle dying).

Uncle John joined the USAF 4 Sep 1951, went to the Great Lakes, Illinois then to San Francisco to be assigned to the USS Chourre and came home on furlough 1 May 1953. There are some photo's above of his ship.
