Rev. Eleazer Wheelock My 2nd Cousin 8X Removed




Rev. Eleazer Wheelock was born 22 Apr 1711 in Windham, CT., to Deacon Ralph Wheelock (1683-1748) & Ruth Huntington (1682-1725)they had a farm of 300 acres. He was a American Congregational minister, orator and educator in Columbia, CT. He founded Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. 




He founded and ran Moor's Charity School in Connecticut.

Rev. Eleazar graduated from Yale College in 1733, and won his first award of the Dean Berkeley Donation for distinction in classics. He continued his studies in theological at Yale until he was licensed to preach in May of 1734.

Tow months after being paster He married Sarah Davenport on 29 Apr 1735. She died 1746. They had managed a farm and he was itinerant preacher in the 1730's and 40's.

He then married a 20nd time to Mary Brindmead, who was a widow with two children, plus they had the following children.

He served as minister at the Second Congregational Church in what's now Columbia, CT. Wheelock in Caledonia, VT is named after him.

I was so proud of my heritage even more so after finding all this information. It has taken me many years to find my dad's biological family. I just wish he was still a live so I could share all this with him, he would of loved this so much.
