Rev. Ralph Wheelock was born in 1600 in Shropshire, England to John Wheelock (1563-1636) & Lady Elizabeth Anne Rogers (1568-1676). He was educated at Clare Hall at the University of Cambridge, where he studied alongside John Milton and John Eliot. He was enrolled in 1623 to obtain his Bachelor of Arts Degree and he also obtained a Masters in Art in 1631. On 17 May 1629 in Wramplingham, England at St. Peter & St. Paul's Church he married Rebecca Clark (1610-1680) .

They immigrated to America in 1636 settling first in Boston, Massachusetts His wife gave birth on the ship on their way, to a daughter named Peregrina.
1638 they were in Dedham, MA where he was the first school teacher, then in 1650's He founded Medfield, MA where he was schoolmaster and taught there for eight years. In May 1651 the town was incorporated by the General Court of Massachusetts. He lived here with his family for 32 years.
He took up a collection for Harvard College, the first college in America.

After his first wife died he married Hannah last name is unknown. She died in 1682 and Rev. Ralph Wheelock died 11 Jan 1683 he was 84 years old and is buried with his wife in the Medfield Cemetery in an unmarked graves. There is controversy over his wife Hannah there is little information and most do not claim her as his 2nd wife.
